Sophia is a multidisciplinary lawyer who is practicing all aspects of Greek law concerning both natural and legal persons. She has been a member of the Kefalonian Bar Association since 2019. She is particularly involved in matters of Real Estate, Energy, Civil and Corporate Law and Intellectual Property rights.
Sophia started her own boutique law firm in Kefalonia, Greece, in 2020, after having spent the last 3 years working for a well-known law firm (member of an international Big 4 accounting firm) located in Athens, Greece. During this time, she was a member of the Real Estate team, advising on all issues affecting real estate, conducting ownership titles’ due diligence and relevant procedures at Land Registries and Cadastral Offices throughout Greece, and representing seller or buyers in sale and/or leasing agreements.
She studied law (LLB) at Democritus University of Thrace, Department of Law and obtained her Master’s Degree (MSc) in Energy: Strategy, Law & Economics, from the University of Piraeus, Department of International & European Studies. She has also been awarded the certificate on Intellectual Property by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) (2021). Apart from Greek, she also speaks English, German and recently she started taking Italian lessons, as well.
Alongside with her own law firm, she is also working as an “Of Counsel” for 2 other law firms also located in Kefalonia, Greece.

Selling and purchasing property procedures and agreements, leasing agreements, handling of property-related disputes, conduct of ownership titles’ due diligence in Land Registries and Cadastral Offices, advice on issues arisen from spatial and urban planning law and national framework.
Legal support and assistance to non-EU investors in receiving a Greek (EU) Residence Permit by real estate acquisition. The Greek legislation grants residency permits to third country nationals and to the members of their families, who proceed to purchase and/or long-term leasing of real estate property in Greece of a value exceeding €250.000, for 5 years. The residency permit may be renewed for an equal duration, each time, provided that the real estate property remains in the ownership and possession of the third-country national. Periods of absence from the country shall not disrupt the renewal of the residence permit.
After BREXIT, UK nationals who are not covered by the Withdrawal Agreement, i.e. those who did not reside in Greece prior to 1/1/2021, are subject to the Greek Immigration Law and may also be eligible for the Golden Visa regime or other types of residence permit. On the other hand, those who fall under the Withdrawal Agreement and already hold a residence permit will just need to issue a new one by competent the police department.
Establishment and business transformation of all company forms and drafting of related documentation, i.e. articles of association, shareholders’ and non-disclosure agreements, drafting and negotiation of all types of business contracts, such as agency, distribution, supply and customer contracts, franchising, etc.
Handling of family and inheritance matters and/or disputes, property disputes, litigation before Greek Civil Courts, enforcement procedures.
Advice on Greek gas and electricity policy, on the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, renewable energy sources licensing procedures and drafting of power purchase agreements.
Support and handling of investigations by the competition authorities, enforcement of antitrust legislation, i.e. criminal procedures and civil lawsuits for alleged antitrust violations, advice on state aid compatibility provisions.
